Fight Against Fur - University Brief
This project, entitled Fight Against Fur, was in response to my university's Global Challenges unit, which examines environmental and social issues and how we can use our creativity to address them. I chose to look at the fur industry because I am passionate about animal welfare, and this issue is closely related to my chosen field.
I took a more textile-focused approach, exploring the process of machine knitting to create a wool-based alternative to fur fabrics. I developed a series of samples that showcased my looped-knitting technique and my exploration of natural dyes.
For this project, I won the AUP Global Challenges - Imagining New Futures award and was nominated for the SDC colour competition, which gave me the opportunity to speak with a panel of judges and present my wool alternative to them.
